Hi.

Multiple ways to open an image in blender. From any button that says, "open image" or just "open" when there's a small picture icon next to it, will load up an image. (Image editor window, textures tab, sequence editor, 3D view's properties panel->Backdrop images...) Once it's loaded at least one time, you can just select that one from the list of images anywhere where you can use an image. Also you can just drag and drop it on top of any area in blender where you wish to use it, like, from your screen desktop on top of the default cube will make a new default UVmap for the cube and use that UVmap to show the image. To the background of the 3D view will make it a backdrop picture (need to be in orthographic view and face the model from any straight angle like top, bottom, left...). Or you can enable "import planes as images" addon from the addons tab in user preferences window. After that, "File->Import->Images as planes" and then select a file.

Don't mix texture for an image though. In blender, they are completely different things. "Image" is always an image (file or generated bitmap type image), "texture" is a layer which can effect the color via an image or generated formula like clouds.

Viewport materials that will show in the viewport directly but not in the render, go like this: Object->Image (via UVmap)
Render materials will have these levels: Object->Material->Texture->Image (via generated coordinates or UVmap)
Cycles render engine has it: Object->Material->Image. (via generated coordinates or UVmap)


I think this covers some basics of the system. It's a bit complicated at first but you will see it's a necessity to make anything more complicated 3D renders.

Hmm... Talking about taste btw, if you ever had any doubts. Just a couple of days ago, in wednesday to be exact really, there was this guy from Holland in the place I work. He was the guy my boss bought the new machines from. He's like an international salesman selling stuff all over Europe and then he just sends the order to Holland to the factory and then handles the purchase deal himself. He said that he has been all over Europe and visits Finland once a month. And he said that Finland is unique from the rest of the EU countries. Everywhere else it's all about money and more money while in here it's the taste first and then the money. "Even the worst of finnish carrots taste better than the best of some other country." XD

And yeah, we are willing to pay extra just so that the product would be better tasting in the end. Even if it wouldn't effect sales or income that much... Thinking about this. That might also be the reason why McDonalds has been losing money in here almost every year it has been in here, I hear their food is relatively tasteless or tastes like one thing only, and my boss said their hamburgers were rather dry and rubbery like.

And on the other note, been meaning to talk to you about this multiple times already, don't use polls for messages to other people. It's annoying as hell. -_- This makes me go "great... Ignore... ->". Besides I don't open any links in the polls anymore anyway because it has became this instant message broadcast thing like you're doing. More and more often I find myself just deleting all the polls in my inbox nowadays. Except Zummeng's polls. You have your journal, use it. If you want to quickly ask something from other people, use polls. People do see polls better allright, but this is like, forcing it down people's throat by spamming it around and I find it quite rude. People who are interested about you will read your journals. At least if the journals are small enough. You don't have to shovel it at people with flashing lights...
